DESCRIPTION:Field Trip – West Rock Ridge State Park – Lake Wintergreen\, Hamden – Molly Zahn and Peter Grund\n\nApril 12 @ 7:30 am – 10:30 am\n\n\n\nJoin Molly Zahn and Peter Grund for a walk at the Lake Wintergreen area of West Rock Ridge State Park. We will circle the lake and\, if there is time\, walk up to the water tower close to the top of the ridge. The walk around the lake is on gravel or dirt paths and is mostly flat. The walk to the ridge is uphill. We hope to see a broad range of woodland birds\, as well as some waterfowl on and around the lake. DESCRIPTION:April 15\, 2026  Station 43 Beginners Bird Walk #4 Wed 8 am \n953 Main St\, South Windsor\nCorner of Newberry Rd and Main St\nPark along road near intersection. \nThe fourth of four morning walks designed for beginners at Hartford Audubon’s oldest sanctuary. Station 43 is an excellent birding area year-round and on each walk we will look for seasonal birds. The walk is roughly 2.5 miles (3 hrs) long over flat terrain but we may encounter muddy areas and water covering parts of the path. Bring spotting scope if you have one. SUMMARY:WCBC: Meeting - Birding Argentina/Patagonia
DESCRIPTION:Thursday\, April 16 – Monthly Meeting – Birding Argentina/Patagonia – a new talk\nby Dave Tripp\, birder and photographer par excellence\nSouthbury Public Library\, 100 Poverty Road (off Main Street South\, on the corner of Old Field Road). \n 6:45 refreshments\, 7:00 meeting\, ending about 8:30. \nWCBC Member Dave Tripp has been birding since the spring of sixth grade\, age of 12 when he went on a Litchfield Hills Audubon Society Sunday bird walk with his sixth grade teacher at White Memorial in Litchfield. He has been hooked ever since. He currently serves as the Vice President and Treasurer of LHAS\, compiles two Christmas Bird Counts and a Summer count\, is a Board member of the COA\, 20+ years on the ARCC\, and founder of the Connecticut Big Day team; the Raven Lunatics where they hold the state record of 192 species in a 24-hour period. He has traveled worldwide and specializes in leading trips to Central and South America\, especially Brazil as a hobby.\nThe program will be on his trips to Argentina in 2022 and 2025\, specifically the Patagonia region. His Argentina list is over 300 species\, of which 235 species have been photographed and in eBird. We are sure Dave will be entertaining\, with stories and adventures as well as his spectacular photos of the Patagonia avifauna.
