SUMMARY:CT Audubon Milford Point: Coastal Bird Walk
DESCRIPTION:Coastal Bird Walk\n \n\nJoin local birding expert Frank Mantlik for a bird walk! The Coastal Center is a hub for wildlife all times of the year\, so we’ll take you to some of our favorite sites around the sanctuary’s salt marsh\, woodlands\, and sandbar to look for a variety of birds. Beginner birders are welcome. The Coastal Center has a limited supply of binoculars to loan out if needed. \nThis will be a casual walk for 2-3 hours\, depending on the weather and birding conditions. The walk is fairly flat\, but will take place on loose sand with little shade. Please bring good walking shoes\, binoculars\, and water. Dress appropriately for the weather\, as it tends to be windy at the coast. There are bathrooms on site at the Coastal Center. \nThis walk is subject to cancellation in the event of bad weather. If a walk is cancelled\, you will be offered to transfer your registration to a rescheduled date or receive a refund.** \n\n \nThe walks are on August 15th\, 09:00AM – 12:00PM; August 19th\, 08:00AM – 11:00AM; and August 29th\, 08:30AM – 11:30AM.\n \nMembers of CAS pay $15 per ticket\, non-members pay $20.\n \nAnyone interested can get tickets online at Programs & Events at Milford Point | The Connecticut Audubon Society\, or call our Office Manager Louise Crocco on (203) 878 7440.

Julian will focus his talk on the 8 species that most people see and struggle with identifying. \n \nAfter the presentation\, Julian and several others will bring small groups out to Milford Point’s shoreline for some field work to work on those ID skills.\n \nTo help prepare\, Julian has created a wonderful pdf that’s available through his Substack – Birding on the Edge.
