SUMMARY:CT Audubon\, RTP Estuary Center: Swallow Paddle
DESCRIPTION:Swallow Paddle:\n\n\n\nTuesday\, September 8\, 2026\n5:30pm – 7:30pm\nOld Lyme\, CT\nMembers: $25\nNon-members: $35\n\n\n\n\nEvery September along the lower Connecticut River in Old Lyme\, one of the greatest avian spectacles in North America occurs. Thousands of Tree Swallows congregate around sunset from miles away\, swirling in synchronized flight before dropping to roost among the reeds for the night. The best way to see it is from a boat on the river\, where you’ll be surrounded by swallows flying over the water. \nEach participant must provide their own kayak or canoe and PFD. Open to ages 16 and up. Part of the paddle may occur after dark\, so a light for your person or watercraft is encouraged. \n\n \nTo register: Swallow Paddle | Sep 8\, 5:30pm – 7:30pm | RTP Estuary Center | The Connecticut Audubon Society
