SUMMARY:Audubon CT Bent of the River: How to be a Good Nest Box Landlord
DESCRIPTION:Cavity-nesting birds like the Eastern Bluebird often rely on man-made nest boxes because naturally occurring cavities have become scarce in the wild. Other bird species that use these boxes include Tree Swallows\, Chickadees\, Tufted Titmice\, and House Wrens. Learn from the best Bent landlords who care for 34 nest boxes at our sanctuary. Kate Pratt\, our Senior Coordinator for Community Engagement and Programs\, has been caring for our nest boxes for over 10 years. In this workshop\, learn how to set up\, maintain\, and monitor a nest box of your own. Part presentation\, Q&A with Kate\, and a look into a nest box on-site will leave you ready to become the best landlord you can be. \nYou have the option to purchase a nest box kit with your workshop ticket. \nPreregistration required \nA ticket to attend is $15 \nA ticket with a nest box kit included is $45 \nPlease park in the visitor lot and walk up to the barn \nFor questions\, please contact Allison Middlemass at allison.middlemass@audubon.org or (203) 405-9115 x115 \n\nHandicapped parking by the barn\nAccessible bathroom on site

SUMMARY:Audubon CT Greenwich: Nest Box Building Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join Greenwich Audubon Center for a fun in-person program to learn about ways to support birds at home with nest boxes! Tree-cavity nesting birds such as Eastern Bluebirds depend on nestboxes to survive\, as it has become increasingly difficult for them to find natural tree cavities in the wild. Other birds that love nestboxes include Tree Swallows\, Chickadees\, Tufted Titmice\, and House Wrens. \nAfter a slide-show presentation\, you will have the opportunity to build your very own nest box kit with the assistance of Audubon staff! Kits must be purchased with ticket registration in advance and will be given out at the program. Hammers & Screwdrivers will be available for use but we recommend bringing your own Hammer & Philip’s Head Screwdriver if you have them. \nThis IN-PERSON program has a limited capacity and will start with an indoor slide show. Weather permitting the box building portion will be held outside. \nTICKETS ALONG WITH KITS MUST BE PURCHASED IN ADVANCE through our online ticket sales page. There will be no ticket sales at the door the day of the program. Please be prepared to show proof of your ticket registration\, either as a printed copy of your registration receipt or your registration confirmation email on your phone. \n– Program Fee: $40 for kit and one person (must purchase kit in advance)\, $5 for each additional person. \n– Pre-registration is required. Select here to register. \n– Recommended for ages 6 and up. \n– Please register for the quantity of ALL members in your party. The rate for children and adults is the same. *You must purchase a nestbox kit to participate.* \n– Upon arrival please check in at the front desk to pick up pre-purchased kits and proceed to Kiernan Hall where our slide show will take place. \n– For questions\, please contact Ryan MacLean at Ryan.MacLean@audubon.org or 203-930-1353. \nPlease note\, by signing up for this event you are consenting to receive emails from Audubon about this program and our conservation work.
