The Meadowood property in Simsbury is a magnet for geese, having hosted Ross’s, Pink-footed, and Greater White-fronted among others. Hear the riveting story of how the people of Simsbury battled city hall, and how Meadowood, once destined to become a 300-unit subdivision, instead became an oasis for birds.
Our speaker, Doug Beach, a member of the Hartford Audubon Club, has been deeply involved in ensuring Meadowood’s legacy. He has played a key role in documenting the species that live, migrate, and breed there, helping to highlight the property’s vital importance as a birding hotspot and conservation success story.
