First sighted on Long Island New York it was first discovered by Katie Hubbard at Milford Point CT on April 19th and seen one day only. Remarkably it was relocated many miles to the east at Harkness Memorial State Park in Waterford CT and confirmed by Bob Dewire on April 30th.

It represents the first CT record.

Identified by Greg Hanisek and Mark Szantyr. These two birds were also complimented by two additional Selasphorus Hummingbirds during this season for a remarkable 4 Connecticut Rufous/Selasphorus Hummingbirds during the Fall of 2000! A Rufous Hummingbird was in Stratford November 28 till December 7 (Szantyr) and a Selasphorus species was in West Hartford October 12 till the 14th (Kaplan and Szantyr).

Alternate Plumaged Chestnut-collared Longspur. Discovered by Dave Gumbart.
This individual, while present, showed little to no fear of people and allowed extremely close approach. Some observers had to back away from the bird to focus their optics on it!
