Calling all environmental advocates:
We need an hour and a half of your time for important research on Long Island Sound. Noted Yale professor, Shimon Anisfeld, is conducting a research project analyzing indicators of LIS health. We are looking for volunteers to help in this project during the next few weeks. Participants will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis. Please see the notice below from Tara Moberg, a student of Dr. Anisfeld’s, who is heading up the
project. Dinner is included!
Thanks!

Long Island Sound Research:
Dear COA Members,
I am a student at Yale University working with Dr. Shimon Anisfeld on a research project on the Long Island Sound. Specifically we'll be looking at the
current methods used to assess the health of Sound.
We are looking for a dozen or so volunteers from your organization to meet with us one evening in March (20, 21, 27, or 28) for about 1 1/2 hrs
(Dinner will be provided) to discuss the environmental indicators used to measure the health of the Sound. Currently there are 46 indicators used to measure the
health of the Sound. Two examples include, the number of nesting osprey and number of nesting plover.
With this study, we hope to answer the following questions:
- Are the indicators right?
- Do we have all the right indicators?
- Are the indicators being interpreted correctly and completely?
- Are the indicators and their interpretation being presented clearly and accurately to stakeholders and the general public?
If you are interested please contact Patrick Comins at Audubon with your availability for the dates above. You can reach him by calling (203) 264-5098 x305 or at
